COTOPAXI LIONS CLUB Photo Contest!

The Cotopaxi Lions Club is having a 2018 Community Photo Contest.

THE RULES:

  • Photos must be from the Upper Arkansas River Valley.
  • Submit your favorite photo as a 5 x 7 print to enter the contest by September 18, 2017. Photos must be in a horizontal landscape (not vertical or portrait).
  • Photos must be a 5 x 7 print as well as either CD, jump drive, digital format, etc. The original photo will be returned to the contestant.
  • On a separate sheet of paper, please include the name of the photographer and a brief description or location of the photo. Please do not write on the photo itself.
  • The photo may be enhanced using a computer assisted program.

WINNER SELECTION:

  • 10-12 photos will be selected for greeting cards.
  • Photos will be selected by a panel of judges selected by the Cotopaxi Lions Club.
  • All unselected photos will be returned to the owner.
  • Previously selected photos are not eligible.

RIGHTS:

  • It is understood that by submitting a photo to the Cotopaxi Lions Club Contest, the contestant is giving permission and ownership rights to the Cotopaxi Lions Club for reproduction. As a result, no copyrights will be accepted.
  • It is understood that the use of the photo by the Cotopaxi Lions Club is for greeting cards.

Photos must be submitted by September 18, 2017 to any Cotopaxi Lions Club member.

Community Ice Cream Social – FREE

FREE Computer Classes

The Howard Hall Association in conjunction with TEKnical Services will begin offering free computer classes for local area residents.  Classes will be held on Tuesday Evenings at Howard Hall beginning August 8th.  Classes will start at 6:00 pm and last approx. 1 1/2 hours.  Go to TEKnicalLearning.org for additional information and class requirements.

 

First Annual 4th of July BBQ

JULY 4th, 2017 – Community BBQ & WFHS EARLY DAZE IN OLD HOWARD

The Howard Hall Association would like to extend a big Thank You to the Western Fremont County and the Pleasant Valley area for your support of the Howard Hall Community Center by joining us with the “First Annual 4th of July BBQ”. Which will Be held on July 4th, 2017 at the Howard Hall from Noon to 4pm.

You can join in the festivities and still have time to go see the fireworks!!

Activites:
Take a “Trolly Ride” around the Howard Square, with some history being given by a WFHS member!
“Barrel Train” Rides
Horseshoe contest
Games
Face Painting
—– AND – FOOD! —–

Western Fremont County Historical Society will open the WFHS History Center (former Free Methodist Church building) for open house and tours.
Meet and greet descendents of the Howard Family, for whom the town was named. They will share both family history and the history of old Howard.

A BBQ lunch will be served for $10 per person, children 10 & under free.

Home Business Symposium

Howard Hall Association is pleased to sponsor it’s first (of many?) Pleasant Valley Home Business Symposium.

The Pleasant Valley area is robust with home based cottage businesses. From Wellsville to Texas Creek and surrounding areas you’ll find talented individuals offering a myriad of services from accounting to health and well-being, teaching, small engine repair, computer services and more. Join us on June 10th at Howard Hall from 10 am to 2 pm to introduce your products or services and network with your neighbors. This will be a perfect opportunity to gain exposure for your home-based business, help your neighbors find goods and services and help keep the business money local! If interested, please fill out the information below and we’ll add you to the list of participants. There will be no charge to join in on the event however any donations to the Howard Hall Association general fund will be greatly appreciated.

Table space will be set up for each business to display information such as business cards, fliers, samples, promotional give-aways, etc. Some refreshments and snacks will be available through the Howard Hall Association for a small charge. Available space will be on a first come-first serve basis. Tables will initially be set up indoors only however, outdoor space may be available based upon the weather. If you would like to set up outdoors, please call for special arrangements.

Come & bid on the many great “Silent Auction” items that have been donated by local merchants and local community artists.
Silent auction bids start at 5:00 pm and bidding ends at 7:00 pm.

Personal Safety Academy

The Personal Safety Academy

is 4 hour course designed to provide training in awareness and avoidance of threats. We also teach people how to use simple techniques to protect themselves in a physical confrontation. The course also includes a small pepper spray. The cost for the class is $25.00 and will be held at Howard Hall in Howard, CO Saturday February 4, 2017 at 10:00am to 2:00pm.
